Chris Klemczyk's route
The layout didn't lend itself to a nice loop so I decided to avoid the crowd at the start and headed uphill to get 26 and 45 (the churches), 44 (wooden bridge), and 46 (high school). I recovered a bit going back to the waterfront and followed the trail of controls to get 34, 27, 33, 43, and 28. I missed seeing the stairs on the map until I had already doubled back to go up to 11 (middle school). I then erred by taking the steps back down to the water after getting 22 instead of keeping my elevation gain and heading for 39. I ran steadily through 35(Park), 52(boat launch), 25(really steep hill), and 47(firehouse). One look at the hill going back up to 39 and I kept going all the way back to the start/finish to get 31(dock). I went uphill again to get 21(church) and 36 (post office) followed by 37(skate Park) and 23(trail intersection). I got turned around looking for 38 so I decided to bail and just head back downhill to finish with 24, 53, and 12. I handed in my scoresheet 7 minutes early, but by GPS I had already gone a little over 12 miles and 660 points so I don't think I left too much in the tank or on the table.
My wife and sone were a separate team with her on foot and him on his bike and covered about 8.5 miles for a fine family effort.
