Damage Incorporated's Route

This one was a high scorer, less because of our distance/checkpoint coverage, but because there weren't any 10-pointers. When designing a route, I've gotten pretty good at judging my distance without the use of strings, etc... Since I'm the limiting factor on this team, the route is usually planned around me. Our common strategy is to plan for some checkpoints that we can dump along the way if it doesn't look like we'll make it. We find our assumed 90-minute point and start modifying from there. This time we were quite a ways ahead of our anticipated half-way point and figured we'd try and run the route as-planned. Of course the second half included a climb up Phinney Hill which would potentially alter the plan too. As it worked out, we covered our entire route with 20 minutes to spare. By the time we realized that was going to be the case, it was too late to try and stretch the route out. Had we realized this by the time we got to Ballard High, we could have headed north to Whittier School for 30 more points. The additional points would have moved us up a place or two in the overall, but we still would have remained behind Patrick for the Corporate Class.
