Bite of Seattle, again

Among the numerous festivals going on the same time and day as Night and Day, the Bite of Seattle will once again rear its ugly head. In the past, Seattle Center has been full of crowds all day long, and the police have closed off access after closing time (9pm) to clear out the crowds.

You have been warned.

Seattle Center closed after Bite closing?

You mean that the police do not allow people to enter Seattle Center after 9:00 p.m. Saturday? When do they allow people back in?

I remember inquiring about the Bite years ago and I was pretty sure they told me that the Center had open access during Bite (unlike during Bumbershoot, for example, when it is only possible to enter through certain gates).

Bite of Seattle

The story I heard (when I was helping check people in after the 11pm finish last year) is that one of the teams tried to get into the checkpoint at the Center last year after 9pm, and was turned away by police.

Assuming this is true, I take this to mean that sometimes people get rowdy after the Bite closes (this has certainly happened in the past), and, when this happens, they clear everyone out of at least parts of the Center as a form of crowd control. I assume they allow people back in after the crowds have abated. And, of course, if there is no crowd control problem, I assume the Center is as accessible as it usually is.

I'm just saying that the Center during the Bite is, at best, a hazard that may make navigation difficult. Like the railroad tracks at Broad Street, or the Fremont Bridge.
